The Clayton Fire Department ranks within the top 10% of all fire departments across the United States of America and has consistently maintained our ISO (Insurance Service Office) rating at “3”, providing Clayton residents with cost savings on their home owners insurance due to the excellent service provided by the Fire Department. In addition to being dedicated to meeting the community's needs through our mission and upholding our values, the Fire Department provides advanced emergency medical services, fire suppression, as well as fire safety inspections, fire prevention, and community education by utilizing a combination of career and part-time personnel. Finally, the Clayton Fire Department continually participates within the community through different initiatives such as their multiple annual Pink Ribbon Girls Cancer Support fundraising drives and the annual Community Open House.
Fire Chief Brian Garver has been with the Clayton Fire Department since 1997, after becoming a volunteer fire fighter for Vandalia in 1994. His responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations and acts as the department’s representative for various committees within the City of Clayton and Montgomery County. He also handles the administrative duties such as strategic planning, development of department goals, as well as policy and procedure development. The department utilizes two firehouses, both of which are staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.The dedicated staff are always ready and willing to meet the needs of our community and friends.
